Why’d Dr. Disrespect get banned?
It has been two weeks since Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV, better known as Dr. Disrespect, was banned from Twitch. He was the high-profile face of the company, especially after the departures of Ninja and Shroud. Little to nothing has come out. It is all rumors. Even the Doc himself claims to have no idea why he was banned from the world’s foremost streaming platform.
Twitch has not notified me on the specific reason behind their decision… Firm handshakes to all for the support during this difficult time.

A search on Twitch for the master of violence, speed, and momentum yields disappointing results. His page is nowhere to be found. There are only slightly off usernames and past streams simply titled after the man in question in an effort to drive their videos to the top of the search queue.
So, what happened to Dr. Disrespect?
Here are the facts around Dr. Disrespect:
Twitch has given no specific explanation for the reason behind the ban. They have given the same statement to everyone:
“As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community.”
The Doc has been banned on the platform before. In 2019, he did a live broadcast at E3. His camera crew followed him into a public restroom which prompted a ban that lasted two weeks.
Twitch has issued refunds to his channel subscribers and his emotes are no longer available for use on the site.
Now, the rumor roundup and theories:
Rod Breslau tweeted that credible sources told him the reason for the ban, but he would not share due to the sensitivity of the subject.
look: for several hours now I have been told from credible sources the reason DrDisrespect has been banned. however due to the importance and sensitivity around the subject I have refrained from going on it. i don't feel comfortable with it currently

Continuing with Rod Breslau, the man known as “Slasher” has been on the case since the very beginning. Further tweets tell of sources indicating the ban is not DMCA related. Twitch began cracking down on DMCA violations very heavily just prior to this. As well, he shared the last few moments of what could very well be the final Twitch stream of Dr. Disrespect.
Sources: it is not DMCA

watching a video of the last 8 minutes of todays DrDisrespects stream, he changes behavior abruptly and mumbles out an extremely odd ending
"We'll…we'll get through this champions. life's weird right now….we'll get through this okay. and uh…..fuck" pic.twitter.com/sXXHRbtVij

The video shows some odd behavior by the Doc that is quite frankly unexplainable.
The first theory that hit the mill is that Dr. Disrespect helped fund a new streaming platform known as Brime. That would apparently be in breach of his Twitch contract from March 2020. That was quickly debunked as Brime used the momentum to gain attention but ultimately revealed no correlation.
There’s also the rumor that he was one of the first streamers the now-defunct platform Mixer turned to. Some believe he could have used this as a way to get Twitch to pay him more during his multiyear contract negotiation, which netted him millions a year. Mixer, however, shut down recently and Twitch may not want to continue that contract. Rather than renegotiate, though, they decided to cut the cord.
There are rumors circulating that this could relate to his admitted cheating scandal from 2017, where he appeared out of character to discuss a leave of absence from streaming in order to mend things with his wife and family. It could potentially have something to do with the woman – or women – he cheated with speaking out in the wave of the #MeToo movement. That movement has found its way to Twitch and the gaming industry, with a vast amount of accusations coming to light and individuals being removed from positions or banned from platforms due to them.
My thoughts on the matter:
Now that the facts and rumors are out of the way. I can express my opinion on the matter. I personally believe the situation has to do with the uproar of sexual assault and harassment allegations that have been issued to various streamers. It is rather unfortunate that no actual facts have been revealed. Thus, all we have is our opinions on the matter.
This has been something of a very serious nature to be kept so quiet and to seemingly shake the Doc to his core in front of his rabid fans in the Arena. I was a fan of Dr. Disrespect, but that doesn’t mean a person I enjoyed watching play video games can’t do something wrong.
I feel during his time of unfaithfulness, in which he allegedly cheated with four different women, something was amiss. There has been word going around that one of the women he cheated with was underage at the time. I strongly believe the cat would have been let out of the bag by now if that were the case.
The silence is deafening. How could it not be something serious? The way no one has any information. The way he has been silent. The way Twitch has been silent. We have no knowledge of the matter whatsoever.
At this point, everything is a conspiracy theory, but with Twitch harshly dealing with those facing accusations of harassment and assault, it is easy to see why that might be the case. The timing is just too perfect. The coincidence would be too massive.
