June’s free PlayStation Plus games have been revealed and it’s looking to favor FPS titles this time around.

Sony has announced the Playstation Plus games for June, and it’s a good month for subscribers. June’s free games are Call of Duty: WWII and Star Wars Battlefront II. Both are AAA first-person shooters, both with massive multiplayer fun built right in.

Call of Duty: WWII

Call of Duty: WWII returns to the series roots and lets you take to the beaches of Normandy for the first time since World at War, released back in 2008. The game has three different game modes, including Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies.

The CoD: WWII Campaign mode is roughly five or six hours long and tells a more “boots-on-the-ground” narrative – a sharp contrast to the often more action film style campaign modes of other games in the franchise. It’s also a return to form for the shooter franchise, with med packs scattered around levels rather than a health regeneration function.

The Multiplayer competitive modes include Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Gridiron, Search and Destroy, and War mode. All require teamwork and coordination to find victory.

Zombies, often referred to as cooperative, pits one to four players against waves of zombies while they rush to complete assigned tasks. Players take the role of one of four classes – Offense, Support, Control, or Medic – each with their own unique abilities.

Star Wars Battlefront II

Star Wars Battlefront II may have had a rocky launch in 2017 with EA stripping microtransactions just hours before release, but the game has received numerous and significant updates continuously since release until April this year, leading to some disappointed fans. As recently as yesterday the game is receiving balance updates and loosened requirements for Milestones. Multiplayer unlockables still require a significant grind, but players have much more freedom now on how they choose to reach those objectives.

The Campaign mode of Star Wars Battlefront II is told over 13 chapters, and you play as an Empire elite engaged in events that occur during the climax of Return of the Jedi. Similar to CoD: WWII, the campaign mode takes approximately five to seven hours to complete.

Multiplayer is where Star Wars Battlefront II really hits home. With nearly a dozen multiplayer game modes and huge sprawling levels that support up to 40 combatants, players can play as legendary characters or pilot vehicles from all three eras of the Star Wars franchise’s history. Multiplayer features the now-omnipresent class system many shooters use, but at least it’s familiar territory. Battlefront II is a gorgeous game that features a lot of incredible sights and sounds, especially for a Star Wars fan.

June is looking like a great time to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber, especially after the simulation-dense May options of Farming Simulator 19 and Cities: Skylines.

Call of Duty: WWII is currently available for download, and Star Wars Battlefront II is available for download starting June 2nd.

What do you think? Is this enough to get you to consider getting a PlayStation Plus subscription?
