What all was announced during the PlayStation Indies initiative? Here they all are.

In a blog post, Shuhei Yoshida formally announced the PlayStation Indies initiative. In November of last year, Yoshida was appointed as the head of PlayStation Indies and has been working hard to ensure indie developers have an easier time making their titles for the PlayStation systems.

The blog post states that the PlayStation Indies initiative hopes to “spotlight and support the best of the best indie games” and the entirety of the indie community.

“Our goal is to make Playstation the best place to develop, find, and play great indie games.”

The post mentions the importance of the indie community for the future of the video game industry. Yoshida states that PlayStation embraces new genres and ideas when it comes to gaming, siting new concepts over the years such as PaRappa the Rapper, Katamari Damacy, LittleBigPlanet, and Journey.

“I was so excited to see the strong reactions to the amazing indie titles featured in the PS5 Future of Gaming event a few weeks ago. Do they not look charming and interesting? I, for one, could not get the Bugsnax song out of my head for a few days since the show went live.”

Bugsnax, which was revealed during The Future of Gaming, is set release in the fourth quarter of 2020 for PS4, PS5, and PC. It is being developed by Young Horses, the indie studio behind 2014’s Octodad: Dadliest Catch. The song in the announcement trailer is performed by British indie pop band Kero Kero Bonito. This is just one of many indie titles set to come out for PlayStation that the company has high expectations for.

As a part of the PlayStation Indies initiative, the post announces that starting in July, a new indie title will be available on the PlayStation Now service every month. The first available title will be Dynamic Pixels’ survival horror stealth game Hello Neighbor.

Finishing the blog post, an announcement of nine “imaginative and exciting” indie titles coming to the PS4 and PS5 was detailed.

Those titles are:

Worms Rumble

The next installment in the Worms franchise sees the battle move from turn-based to real-time action.

Haven

A chill co-op adventure experience from the studio that developed Furi, The Game Bakers.

Carto

An innovative puzzle adventure where connecting pieces of a map opens up the playable world.

Recompile

A hacking-themed platformer set in a virtual landscape.

Where the Heart Is

A narrative adventure that draws inspiration from both imagination and reality.

Maquette

A recursive world simulation and mind-bending puzzle game with a stunning narrative.

F.I.S.T: Forged in Shadow Torch

A dieselpunk-inspired adventure with a massive metal fist wielding bunny.

Heavenly Bodies

A host of challenging tasks in zero gravity to keep a space station operational.

Creaks

A game of outwitting dark creatures by using light in a puzzling, hand-sketched world.
