Sony is apparently paying you to hack your PS4 and find vulnerabilities on PSN via their PlayStation Bug Bounty Program.

Sony announced on Wednesday their PlayStation Bug Bounty Program. To do it, they’ve partnered with HackerOne to help tighten security on Sony’s platforms. The initiative is offering $50,000 to hackers that are able to expose critical flaws in Sonys security systems specifically on the PlayStation 4 and the Playstation Network.

The breakdown for rewards can be seen below or on HackerOne.

It is worth looking through the policy guidelines set as well as legal requirements to obtain these rewards. Sony does assure you that they will not take legal action against you, though, it is important that you follow the guidelines set.

Sony said that there are a variety of rewards for issues discovered, the above $50,000 only being for critical issues on the PS4. This is an interesting step for Sony as they previously kept this form of security testing private with a select group of researchers. This is move seems to be part of a larger shift in community engagement.

What do you think of the PlayStation Bug Bounty Program? Is it cool they’re reaching out to the community or not? Tell us below!
