The open-world Samurai game, Ghost of Tsushima, has now passed five million copies sold.

Ghost of Tsushima has become the “fastest-selling” first-party original IP on the PlayStation 4. Head of PlayStation Worldwide Studios, Hermen Hulst, posted the news on Twitter and added that over 5 million copies of the Sucker Punch Productions developed game had been sold since the game’s launch in July.

#GhostofTsusima is our fastest-selling first party original PS4 game with more than 5 million copies sold since its debut in July. What an incredible achievement by @SuckerPunchProd!

The PS4 is no stranger to high-selling, exclusive games with The Last of Us Part II launching the month prior to Ghost of Tsushima and becoming “the third-highest grossing game” in the US in PlayStation history.

October also saw the launch of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, a free multiplayer expansion in which up to four players can participate, with new unique cosmetics, classes, and missions.

Ghost of Tsushima will also be available on PS5 thanks to the backwards compatibility and will make use of the Game Boost feature to boost performance to up to 60FPS. The game received high praise from critics and no doubt the strong sales will have Sony clamoring for a sequel just as much as the fans are.
