The Epic Games Store appears to be giving away refunds if you’ve purchased a game just before it went on sale.
It’s far from a stretch to say that Epic Games is rooted in controversy nearly every day of the week. Whether it’s them unfavorably swooping in and turning a game into an exclusive or because of their store. We all already know of their Epic Games Store, right? It’s that other, other alternative to Steam. You know, the one you go to when GOG’s not working.
A ton of people hold grudges because of some silly and some serious reasons. For one, a major player in Epic’s funding is Tencent, a Chinese multimedia company with rumored ties to the Chinese government. So, it’s really that some worry about their data. On the more tech-fatigued side, some don’t like them because it’s yet another launcher you need to download. Oh and that’s not even mentioning how they swoop in and nab games ahead of release and convince developers to launch their games on the platform ahead of others.
Whoa whoa what?! I’ve clearly been around for too long because I find this refund for a discount I missed on the @EpicGames store absolutely mind blowingly generous. This is incredible? pic.twitter.com/eHfcus5E0K

Nevertheless, they are a viable platform with a fair selection of games and nifty deals… even if they sometimes break their site. Anyway, it’s looking like EGS is sympathetic to those who purchase games that go on sale soon after. We’ve all experienced that feeling, you purchase a game and all of a sudden – as if stars aligned – it goes on sale for 50 percent off. Supposedly, they’re handing out partial refunds if the game you recently bought goes on sale.

Even if you hate Epic Games’ guts, you can’t deny this is a step in a good direction. That being said, it isn’t like they’re the only one to offer refunds because of this. Steam, which is their leading competitor, also offers refunds for purchases just before a sale, the caveat, though, is you need to reach out. In their refund section, you can get refunds and repurchase a game for the discounted price. With Epic, it doesn’t seem you even need to reach out to get the refund, they automatically do it.
