Get ready, Battletoads is coming next month.
Originally announced during 2018’s E3, the long-time-coming Battletoads is to be released on August 20 for Xbox, Steam, and Xbox’s Game Pass. Created by Dlala Studios and supported by the series creator – Rare – the new installation in the series looks to be created much in the same vein as the original side-scrolling brawler.
The new game has definitely received a cosmetic change, coming from 8-bit and 16-bit graphics to a smooth, cartoon animated style. The new game will feature drop-in/drop-out co-op for up to three players and promises to have an intriguing storyline with cinematic cutscenes.

The very first game in the franchise released back in 1991 and was notoriously difficult to finish, with sequels created on the Gameboy and a coin-operated arcade machine. With the last game having been released back in 1994, there’s been quite a bit of time for Rash, Pimple, and Zitz to get into more shenanigans. The storyline is anybody’s guess, but after 25 years of waiting, should be worth checking out. Battletoads is launching this August.
What do you think? Are you excited to see what the trio got themselves into this time?
