Animal Crossing: New Horizons sold 3.7 million digital copies in April.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons was the perfect game to come out in these trying times. Fans flocked to the franchise and no one can deny that they clung onto the game’s colorful, cutesy style to take a break from the harsh reality. It was a huge success, stores weren’t prepared for the people who came in droves to pick up a copy for themselves.

In recently collected data, the sales are still going fairly strong. Around 3.7 million copies were sold digitally, according to SuperData‘s numbers. While this seems to be a downward trend to the tune of about 27 percent from its launch month’s sales, that’s to be expected, a ton of people already nabbed themselves a copy.

The game’s sales also aren’t doing too badly, all things considered. The game is still a highlight of the year for Nintendo. It’s still the numero uno Switch game in terms of digital sales. That same report earmarked various other games and their performance last month. Among the top games, Animal Crossing: New Horizons was followed by the likes of Final Fantasy VII Remake, which raked in a whopping $2.2 million, FIFA 2020, GTA V, NBA 2K20, and more.

In related news, League of Legends also saw the highest level since early 2017. GTA V, on the other hand, hit record high in-game spending in April.
